Privacy Policy

The short version: this site has no accounts, sets no cookies of its own, shows no ads, and does not collect or sell personal information. Some outbound shopping links are affiliate links, and clicking one lets that retailer's network set a cookie of its own — disclosed in full below. What follows is the complete picture.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. There is no registration, no login, no comment system and no newsletter. You can read every page on this site without telling us who you are.

Analytics

We use a self-hosted instance of Umami, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool, to understand which pages are read. Umami stores aggregate counts — page views, referrers, country-level location, browser and device class. It sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses, and generates no persistent identifier that could follow you across days or across sites. The analytics script is served from this site's own domain, and the data lives on infrastructure we operate; it is not shared with, or sold to, anyone.

Hosting and server logs

The site is served by Cloudflare, whose edge network handles requests and may process standard technical data (IP address, user agent) transiently to deliver pages and protect against abuse, as described in Cloudflare's own privacy documentation. We do not use this data to identify visitors.

Advertising

There is none today: no banners, no ad network, no ad-targeting cookies. Affiliate links, described in the next section, are a different thing and are disclosed separately. If we ever add advertising, this page will be updated first, and any consent mechanism legally required in your region will be put in place before ads appear.

Affiliate links

Some links to books, discs and posters on this site are affiliate links. If you buy something after following one, the retailer or its affiliate network pays this site a commission; the price you pay is exactly the same either way. What gets listed is an editorial decision — a commission never buys a placement, a ranking position, or a kind word.

Affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored" in the page's HTML and open in a new tab. The programmes involved are Bookshop.org, Displate, Awin (for Arrow Video) and FlexOffers (for Shudder and Sundance Now).

Third-party cookies from affiliate links

This site sets no cookies of its own. But if you click an affiliate link, the destination — the retailer or its affiliate network — may set a cookie in your browser so that a purchase you make later can be attributed back to us. That happens on their domain, under their privacy policy, and only if you click: reading a page here sets nothing. Attribution windows are typically 30 to 45 days. Blocking third-party cookies, or using a tracker blocker, prevents this and breaks nothing on this site.
